i'm not shure how to describe this but here goes. My brother is looking to find (if available) a spray on type of grease that would go on thin enough to wick through space between parts but then either the solvent would evaporate leaving grease behind or thicken to grease like consistency. I figured if they make it you guys would know of it. anyone heard of such a thing ?

Got a can in the garage, just can't remember the name now. It sprays on clear, thin and when the carrier evaporates it's tacky and thick. I think I bought it at a Carquest store.

You mite wont to try PJ1 by Bel-ray it will have a BLACK label its chain lube for motor cycles and it follows good and tacks up like grease after a few minutes

I really like "SUPERLUBE". It does just about what you describe. also contains 'Teflon'. Available at many department stores, KMart, Wally land, etc. Also some auto parts stores. Silver spray can.

Not real sure of your question either but Look on Google.com for "ZEP" I have used several of their products with decent results

From your post I'm not sure whether you want a lubricant or a preservative. LPS 3 is a spray on preservative that works as you described. I have used a lot of it, and haven't found anything better. It is similar to Cosmolene, but not as durable(LPS claims 2 years but it lasts longer if somewhat protected) or hard to remove. It is available in spray cans from hardware stores, industrial suppliers, and auto parts stores. For big jobs it can also be had in bulk. The link below will take you to the LPS website.

If you are looking for a lubricant, there are a variety of chain lubes available in spray cans that go on thin, penetrate, then thicken. These are available from any motorcycle shop and most industrial supply outlets. Some are oily, but most are greasy. And if you want one that's less greasy/oily and more waxy, try Honda "HP". Good luck...Al English

I'll second Al's comments...

LPS-3 is amazing stuff. Sprays on thin, sets up to a cosmoline-like grease.

Not cheap, but worth the money if that's what you need. Only product of it's type that I've seen.

Al's got the 'right stuff' on the lubrication issue too.. motorcycle chain lube or other commercially available aerosol chain lube is the ticket.
