Trailer Brake Control....Kinda OT

Gents,

I just picked up a 20' flatbed trailer (12,000lb) to haul my N and other assorted goodies. The trailer has electric brakes on both axles, and now I need some advice on the controller that mounts inside my rig.

Who makes the best one? Draw-Tite? Tekonsha? PowerTrac? What should I look for?

I know a lot of you drag trailers around, and I'm looking for some good, unbiased opinions on controllers.

Thanks!

Mikey

I appreciate the input. Picked up a new Tekonsha from Ebay for $29.00 including shipping. Now if I can just get it wired!

Mikey, my vote goes for Tekonsha. I have one and it works great. Don't cheap out on this as you get what you pay for. Good luck.

Hi Mikey,

On the newer trucks some guys on the RV boards are saying some controllers seam to work better than others.

The one that seams to be very popular and "new" to the market is the Jordan Ultima but it also has a problem with the cable sliping in the clamp on the brake pedal. That didn't impress me.

The other one is Tekonsha Prodigy. I have one and it works well. I also had an old tap-in hydraulic one that worked well until it broke. There was a small difference with the Prodigy over the old style.

With any of them it's getting them adjusted along with adjustment of the electric brakes.
