Drive pully on a new Heston rotory mower keeps breakin the shaft key. We believe the problem is that the shaft end bolt keeps backing out thus loosening the pully which soon goes to work on this moon key. Well, my hay boss is sending me tomarrow to get some more , what he calls these half moon keys. Is there another proper mechanical name for these shaft key's? Tired of the NAPA boys laughin at my terminology.

BTW, guess I am a lot older than the NAPA guys, but I have heard them called half moon keys plenty of times, if they was "HEP", they would know what you mean and not be so critic of your request.

Richard: Used to work at a place that had lots of pulleys, had the same thing happen. Tell ya what, I drilled and tapped a set screw hole in the pulley where it slides on the woodruff key. Jammed the screw against the key and seemed to solve problem.
