I have an older type 225 lincoln stick welder. Would it be possible to adapt it to weld like a mig for thin metal with a wire feed etc. ?

Hi Bill,

Afaid not. Your welder has a constant current(CC) output and most Migs use a constant voltage(CV) output. I say most Migs as I have a Lincoln SP100 Mig welder that has a CC output thats very rare in a small 115v welder. I can stick, Tig or Mig with this machine but only at 80amps for any length of time.

The second draw back would be the cost of the wire feed head, torch and gas regulator. Pretty hard to beat Lincolns price of $350 for a new 115v Mig welder with all the assc. included and the new machines are 130amp/20% duty cycle but I think there only a CV output.
