I can't figure out how to get the muffler off this little chainsaw. It wiggles, but no screw is visible. Hole in center of muffler cap is too small for screwdriver. Want to get it off because exhaust seems to be clogged. Can't pull start engine when sparkplug is in or finger is over plug hole. Thanks for any advice.

Comment on allen bolt AKA socket head cap, is right. Probably about a 1/4 job. Those peskey screens have probably caused a lot of weeders to hit the garbage man pickup. I have heard they carbon up because the engine is run to slow??? No. 1 son has a stihl and never had problems, mine plugs up when you least expect it. I finally tossed the screen...

I think your on the right track, mine did the same thing when I first got it. There's a screen in the muffler that gets pluged up with carbon. Just cleaned it and reassemble and your good to go again. Some told me to just toss the screen but its a fire arrester and I felt better about leaving it in.

If I remember correctly, my Super 2 had an Allen Head cap screw inside that little hole in the center of the muffler. 1/4 inch or smaller.

That would make sense. I've never seen an Allen screw in that kind of place, but only an Allen wrench would fit through the hole. I will try when I get back to my camp in NH. Thanks so much.
