I'm looking for a string trimmer(cheap)maybe 60 t0 100$ and wondered what experience any of you have had with cordless models. I just need a light duty unit. Maybe they arn't available in this price range, I havn't looked into it yet, just got the idea.

Hi Jim-IL,
I haven't ever used anything except a gas trimmer, but I have a couple of suggestions that you may want to consider.
For the price range you have, you may want to try to find a used gas trimmer that is either in good shape or can be repaired without great expense. The best trimmers (in my opinion) are the ones with a straight shaft and a solid steel shaft inside, as opposed to a curved shaft that has a spring inside to turn the trim head. Look for a grease fitting at the end of the shaft-good to have. I bought a Green Machine about 20-25 years ago and have only put a clutch in the motor, but have worn out several trim heads. It still starts right up. Try to stay away from the "throw away" trimmers. You usually get what you pay for. Good luck.

Personal opinion - don't waste your time with a battery powered unit. If a corded electric is out of the question, get a cheap gas powered unit. You'll have less problems than with a cordless.

I like my Ryboi, I would say It's good for medium duty triming. I had a Wead Eater Clip Stick, vary light duty. Dusty

The store I work at sells a Ryobi cordless trimmer. To put it bluntly I hate the cordless. Ryobi makes a good gas and corded electric, but the cordless gives a lot of trouble.
my 2 cents
