Has anyone ever heard of a Forsberg planer? The model I saw was a 13" planer and made in San Jose. It must be old, because it had enough steel in it to build several Toyotas. I would appreciate any info. Thanks in advance!

I wonder if I bought that planer? Mike, if the "H" in your last name is followed by "iatt", you must be the brother, of the person I bought it from. I think you may have even had this machine yourself. If not, here's some info-It is made of plate steel rather than cast iron and weighs about 350#, counting the stand and motor. I was told it was a prototype of the planer that Forsberg planned to build. I tried rewiring the motor to run on 110, but I was forced to do some attic gymnastics instead and wire my garage (make believe shop) for 220. You can see pictures of the planer on the owwm (old woodworking machines) web site. There is another machine pictured there, and it looks like it may be what Forsberg produced after the prototype. Apparently, they went out of business before they produced many machines. I found your old inquiry while waiting for my wife to finish preparing her classroom for the coming school year. Hopefully, you will receive this email. If you wish to reach me, don't reply. Just use the above email address instead. I live in Stockton.
