A couple of years ago I bought a set of metric deep sockets from our local Wally World store. They were the "PM" brand that has a "lifetime warranty".
Recently I broke one. I Brought it to our local store. They said that they only have sets at the store and they will not break up a set. They told me to mail it to their headquarters in Bentonville, ARK and they would replace it.
Let me get this straight. I am going spend $5 or $6 in postage to mail out a socket that is worth $5 or $6 at best. Some "lifetime Guarantee"! I went to the local auto parts store and bought a K-D socket to replace it. If it breaks I can just bring it in and they will hand me another one over the counter. Moral of the story- buyer beware!

Buying American products is better then paying your taxes. I won't buy tools at walmart because to much of it is made in China. Sometimes by people who are in prison for having the same faith and belief as many of us also have. When our guys went to the middle east they first had to take out rocket and gun sights maned by nationals of this "most favored nation" Our manufacturing base brings wealth to our country and every manufacturing job and farming job we lose can cost seven service job to a comunity. So if possible by USA. It's better for us than paying to much taxes and it saves jobs. Tell Walmart to change it's product line to include MORE AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS.

My wife and I buy a lot of things at Wal Mart. Groceries, household products, consumable automotive products, oil, wax, etc, even some of the cheaper power tools that you don't expect to last forever. I NEVER buy hand tools there, lifetime warranty or not, because I consider them to be junk. Craftsman, although not the best in the world are light years ahead. Don't ever go there and expect to find the same products you saw a month ago, or even a day ago. That said, one advantage of Walmart is that if you aren't satisfied with something, you can take it back, even if it has been used, and get your money back. Couple of years ago I bought a power roller (or what ever it is called) and painted the inside of my house. Worked ok until I had about 30 minutes left, when it broke. Took it back, got a new one -- has 30 minutes of use on it. Then there was the time my wife found a cockroach in the bread-- threw the roach out or I would have taken it (and the bread) back. Just remember Walmart is a DISCOUNT store, if you aren't familiar with the brand, don't buy it.

Ah yes, Walmart. You get what you pay for it, 'nuff said.
Never have, never will shop there.

I stopped shopping at Walmart when after three separate visits a security strip on one of the products was not cancelled properly by the cashier. I got as far as the front door when alarms went off and the security guard came running and snatched my purchase from my hand and told me to follow her. I was treated like a criminal for several minutes in front of a glaring chief of security and the arriving customers before they finally threw my purchase back in the bag and handed it to me. I sent a note to the CEO, David Glass, but never received an apology. Walmart is one store which I hope goes out of business. Sorry for the lip service but had to vent.

Same thing has happened to us. Problem is shoplifting at Walmart is a daily, actually several times daily occurence, and they treat all people alike. You get a receipt-proof of payment. Don't throw it in the trash before you get to the door. Don't take it personally, remember the entry-level checkers are just working until their next break. Do I ever get irritated in Walmart? You bet!

I don't get treated like a thief at My local store where I shop! Be damned if I'll tolerate it at Walmart where the people working there are My neighbors. Their help screws up and I pay for their mistake with being treated like a cheap crook? I'd demand my $$$$ back and inform the store manager the next time He'd hear from me would be from MY LAWYER in court! Remember Your innocent until proven guilty in this country! Darn right I take that Personally! More I hear about that company the more I despise everything they seem to be becoming!

I just bought a new Sears torque wrench too.... On the new ones they do NOT have a life-time warranty. But it's easier to find a Sears store than to find the )_&)*^* Snap-on man most the time!

Before you take back the set, crush each of the other sockets in your vise. It's real easy to do, and you might be able to work out some of the frustration while doing it.

Jim, I would take the whole set back. They can replace the whole set instead of 1 socket.

Thank-You for shopping at WALMART... Where Your Dollars mean Everything To US... and YOU mean nothing! I bet they were rude about it too weren't they? It will be a VERY sad day when they drive the last small Mom & Pop store out of business.

Another Walmart security story, I didn't even buy anything and the alarm went off. They were threating calling the cops when a person walking in and another leaving without purchasing anything set it off. They didn't even appologize to either of us leaving. Just told us to leave (alarm sounding again). Wish I knew what set if off, I'd go have some fun.

This is a comment to the Wally World horror story. As a supplier of a brand of tools. I can understand the frustration when you can't get a replacement.
What is sad is when you the customer, who really does not have the time to take off and get something replaced then to be told we can't do that. I have broken up sets just to satisfy a customer. The price I have paid in trying to put the set back together. Has I feel been repaid a hundred fold by the returning customer. They know that at least Hobo Tools and Supplies will go out of their way to help. I guess that is what is missing anymore in our country. Service!!!!

We customers (& I can be near the front of this line) keep shopping for rock-bottom prices, but then we wonder why we don't get any good service.

Target & Kmart quit most tools & hardware a while ago. Walmart will too. Maybe us bargin shoppers are learning, and not buying the junk? These volume discount stores are _not_ about service, but about volume going out the door.
