What does anyone think about K-D tools. I need to buy a 3/4" breaker bar and O'reilly's auto parts stores has them for $50. They have a lifetime warranty.

KD Tools bought out a forge plant in Greenfield, Ohio in the 70's and made specialty tools, sockets and wrenches. They were based in Lancaster, Pa. and also had a plant in California.
The plant was run by Bill Mc Intosh from Winnipeg, Canada. They made quality tools and leaned heavily into the specialty tool line for automotive use. They made tools with different names on them like John Deere and several others. They didn't let anything bad go out the door cause 'ol Bill ran a tight ship. I know cause he would offer me a couple of tons of things that had a minor flaw in them. I went out of there with a pickup load of combination wrenches (from 1/4 to 1 1/4") for $9.79 a set that I feared would pop the tires on my old 49 Chevy truck. I sold them, gave them away and still have a couple of sets left. They have Mecto, Greenfield, Ohio stamped on them. Then as the economy went south, they did too. To a place called Walterboro, SC (if memory serves me correctly) Jim St. Peters as plant manager. They were a great bunch of guys who knew the tool business well and made good tools. I would have no problems with purchasing any of their tools.
I was involved with them as owner of Martin Machine Works and did everything from die repair to board drop hammer rebuilding. L8R....Fred OH

Mark, Thank you for the response. I will probably buy the bar. I was hoping to get a positive note from someone. Thanks again.

I got some assorted 3/8" and 1/2" drive sockets from K-D. Overall, no problems with them, decent quality and holding up well under moderate use. Sorry, best I can give you on these.
