I was at a yard sale yesterday and looked at a pair of linesman pliers. The things were so old and worn that when they were closed there was still about a 1/8" gap in the cutter.

I bought them for $0.25 because they had a slip-joint in them. I have never seen a pair of linesman pliers with a slip-joint.

I am thinking that they were for a very specific job, but can't for the life of me figure out what it would be.

Has anyone out there seen any of these and possibly know what they were used for?

Dan

Pliers used for glass or stained glass have a built-in gap.
