My chainsaw is leaking fuel. Any ideas where it might be coming from? I took the cover off, and everything looks okay, but how do I get the tanks out to look at the fuel line? It's an older Homelite.

If your saw is blue then it's really old and I wish you all the luck in the world.I've been working on every kind of small engine for the past 30 yrs,it would be helpful if I knew the model saw tho.

Terry-N-Mo Must be a Homelite defect.

My Homelite string trimmer started doing the same thing this summer but it seems like after running a few tanks of gas through it,its not as bad now. Wonder if theres a gasket or seal that dries out over the winter? Later,Terry

The fuel tank has a vent near the top. A small rubber duckbill valve. Seen a few fall out. will leak especially whe full. Remove the recoil assembly and you will be able to see better. After that, you will have to pull the motor out.

Hi Ron,

I am not familiar with your saw, but it is a simple piece of equipment. I would clean it off, look it over carefully, and start removing screws and taking things off until I could see what is leaking. If you have a manual it will likely have at least one exploded view of the unit.

Below is a link to the Homelite website. If the site doesn't contain the info you need, they have an e-mail link to their customer service dept. Good luck...Al English
