Hi everybody,Need some opinions. I just purchased a gradall 880 that has been sitting for 5 years. fuel tank is almost full yet with a vented tight cap. should this fuel be drained and fueled up with some fresh? Also wondering abuout the hydraulic oil. Is there a life expectancy on this, sitting for so long? Thanks all

i'd drain the fuel tank and crank case and change all the filters.i'll go out on a limb and say that the engine is a 471 detroit.if that's the case,i'd clean the air box too.good luck.

5 year-old fuel should be drained & replaced. As far as the hydraulics goes, there's bound to be some condensation or worse in a machine that has set that long. At least, open the drains until all the water runs out, then when you get it running & ready to work, I'd replace the hydraulic fluids. That moisture in the hydraulic system will cause you nothing but trouble.
