If the three holes showing in your pic are threaded, they are for use with a puller. There is also a slim but unlikely chance there is a special puller that engages undercuts(if there are any) in the starter pawl area. Otherwise, you'll need a puller with fingers thin enough to fit under/behind the flywheel...Al English

If your flywheel is like the one on my Poulan do be careful. Even with the greatest care they sometimes break rather than come off. And in case you didn't know, too much heat is bad for the magnet. Good luck...Al English

This works for me. Loosen nut on crankshaft. Leave on end of crank so it is flush with end. Turn flywheel so magnets do not line up with coil. Set saw on bench. Find a punch that will fit IN hte end of crank ( I grind a center punch so it is hitting down in the hole on the end of the crank). Find a medium size hammer and hit it squarely. Note: the saw must be able to slide on the bench. Hope it works for you..

Thanks for the quick respond!

I have no where to support the flywheel from behind because of the engine block...

Will freezing the engine help?

Does your flywheel have two threaded holes, or a set of threads under the retaining nut? If not there should be room to get a puller behind/under the flywheel. If you don't have a puller that will do the job, and you can't justify buying one, I would pay an engine shop the few dollars they would charge to remove it. Even then it may break, but at least the odds are weighted more in your favor...Al English
