I just saw an owners manual for this saw on ebay.

In the ebay search window type (Stihl 031 manual) and that will brin it up.

That will answer all of your questions.

Good luck....Ron

Try the link below. Just copy the url to your address bar and it should go right to the page.

I've had one for 12 years - no matter what I can't seem to kill it. Great, tough saw! What specs are you after? Maybe I've got "The Book"?

Thank you it sounds like a good saw. I bought it used for 140.00 CAN and it works great, I emailed STIHL and they will send me the manual. I am glad to hear that you have found it to be reliable.
It seems to have good power too.

Enjoy! The newer saws are lighter and a little faster, but they will not outcut it. Some parts are NLA, so take good care of it. May just outlast the new ones. I ran one with a 20 inch bar with no problem.

HI: I got two of them. They will work forever if you keep it clean and oiled. One of my saws have 5 to 600 cords on it. The only problem I have had is the cylinder bolts came loose about 3 years ago.Any stihl dealer will tell you it's the best saw stihl ever built. Can't wear mine out.By the way mine are 20 years old.See if you can get that many years out of a Homelite,Poulan, JD,or anyother saw.Never saw a saw saw like that saw saws,????? ????? ?Jack

One of Stihl's most popular models from the past. Introduced in 1971, replaced by the 032 in the late '70s. 3.0 cubic inches (49cc) and takes a 40:1 fuel/oil mix. Many parts are still available new, but some things like the ignition are NLA.

Treat it well and it should last forever. Oh, it's worth around $125-180.
