I've got a Poulan 2150 that had been running real good. It's about 5 years old and I was cleaning it up the other day and thinking "I can't believe this thing runs so good for being a 5 year old Poulan." After I was done cleaning it and sharpening the blade I started it up and it ran fine for about 2 minutes, then it suddenly quit and I haven't been able to get it started since. I tried changing the fuel filter, pulled the plug and checked the gap and also checked the spark. It's good. I don't have a repair manual so I was wondering what would cause it to just up and quit like that, besides the fact that I shouldn't have been thinking the darn thing was running so good. I would appreciate it if anyone has any ideas on what to look at. I hate to just throw parts at it because that can get expensive. By the way I used it last weekend and it worked great then. No signs of any impending problems. The fuel I used was bought about 3 weeks ago, and I mark all my 2 stroke gas cans with the gas/oil ratio, so I know it's good.

Thanks,
Hubie

I got a carb rebuild kit and did the rebuild. While I had it apart I used carb cleaner and made sure all the orifices were clear. I also back sprayed the fuel lines into the tank (of course after I had emptied the fuel tank.) I put it all back together and it still doesn't want to start. There is a rubber gasket like device between the carb and the intake. Does this thing have any positive or negative pressure on it and if so could that thing just suddenly have blown causing an airleak between the carb and intake? I am frustrated because there is really nothing to this motor and everything seems to be ok and it still won't start.

You might check the gas lines. Reason being, had about the same proble with my saw. About to give up and found for some reason the little gas lines had turned to a jelly like substance. I would still invest a couple bucks in a new plug.

Try pouring a little gas into the carb. . If it runs and dies , you have a problem with the carb diaphram , in-tank fuel filter , or fuel line . somewhere you have a stopage or vacuum leak that is preventing the gas from being sucked into the carb .

Fish out the fuel filter from the tank with a coathanger and give it a good cleaning . Check the fuel line for breaks or cracks . If that fails , then the diaphram on the carb probably has a pinhole .

I suspect that you got some trash in the system and just need a good cleaning .

Good Luck !
