I have two old Chamberlain Garage Door openers. The one on my wife's side (the one that gets used all the time because my 841 is parked on my side of the garage) the thing is buzzing all the time. Seems to me that there is a switch in there not opening (i.e., breaking the circuit) when the thing is not operating. Any ideas?

I my wife would get a "buzz" on and "Hummmm" a little I wouldn't complain.

This could be the nature of the beast. I've got an old Clopay and an old Sears. I also have two new Genie openers. The only quiet one is the Clopay. When I noticed the hum coming from the Genie I called them. They said some hum and sum don't. You can have a quiet transformer or a noiser one. The level of noise can vary from one unit to the next. They offered to replace them if it was extremely annoying. Didn't bug me that much so I declined and thanked them for the offer.

If there are flourescent fixtures nearby, a RF interference with the ballast makes the transformer go Hummmm.

I think some of the older openers had a transformer and these have a tendancy to hummm....
