Been thinking about building a (another) barbecue grill. Would use 200-500 gallon tank...whatever I can come up with. Have built several, but would like to put a "spit"/rotisserie on this one. There are several around here which use a small 110 volt motor (geared way down) to turn spit. I would like to use a large weight (might take several hundred #) as power source. Would have to be 'regulated' some way. Maybe pendulum and 'step' mechanism??? Will it work?? Ever built or seen anything similar??

Probably didn't make myself clear; talking about an escapement movement; think 8-day clock on a grand scale.

What area of the country are you in? If you live anywhere in the coal regions, you need to look for an anthraflow coal furnace gear box, it is geared 900/1 and will turn a whole steer with a 1/4 hp motor. I have built these and they never let you down. Good luck

I would like to see some of your grills. Any pics available. I currently have several 250 gal. LP tanks I wish to make into mobile BBQ rigs.

I get alot of ideas from the link below. They have some good recipes and also links to other manufacturers. Do a search for wood burners for best pics.

Not really sure as I have never done it. I plan to fill with water and then cut area for hinge backplane. Then I plan to weld hinges in place and cut remainder of door.

I have just been looking at pics to get an idea. I had hoped someone here had some experience with this. I will let you know what happens.
