I buy mine from a local private Auto mechanic who gets it in 55 gal drums. I tried Diesal fuel but my skin doesn't handle it well at all. The stuff he sells me costs about $3.00 per gal and I provide the container.

We have mineral spirits in ours and it does a good job. It dries pretty fast and isn't too hard on the hands.

I'm using 5 gal. of Kerosene & a gal. of GUNK Degreaser in Mine. Some say #2 diesel works well too. My shop is separated from the house. If Your's is attached to Your house, You may want to use a water soluable cleaning solvent like Super Agitene to reduce flamability danger and/or vapor concerns

Paint thinner. (Low odor mineral spirits). Don't forget some rubber gloves to protect your hands if you'll be using it a lot.

I use kerosene and PROTECTIVE gloves.
Kero. is relative inexpensive and available.
Hands and forearms are the 2nd most obsorbent part of the body. testiceles are #1 So wear gloves and don't spill it on yourself Solvents are not good for the body.

I don't have a parts cleaner, but I clean up military guns....They have been stored for years in cosmoline. Some of them are just dirty from years of neglect.....I use a product called "SIMPLE GREEN"....It's water base and works wonders...You can get it at Meijer's....
