Any one out there use a trash pump for cleaning muck and debris from a pond? If so any suggestions, I was planning on renting a pump and giving it a try.

I have used a 3 inch diaphram pump many times to dredge muck and debris from canals in Fla.Make yorself a long handle to control the pick up strainer(use a 1 inch basket type) and keep it moving. Dont try to do too much at one time just keep going back over each area until you get the results you need. The pumps I have rented will handle 1/2-3/4 inch rock so mud and slime is no problem. Make sure to get a diaphram pump or "mudsucker" as they call them, a centrifugal pump wiil not do the job and you could be liable for some expensive repair bills. Good Luck

Whats the budget? Pick up a 2" air operated diaphram pump and at least a 120 cfm air compressor. Pump 100 gpm all day and will pump up to 2" solids. pain to disassemble to clean, but will run dry no problem.
