I recently was using my saw to cut up a tree in my back yard and when I was almost done my saw started to give me fits. I was very hard to start, and when it did start all it wanted to do was either run at full throttle or not at all. I procceded to take it all apart and cleaned it very carefully. still no luck. I am using fresh gas with a 50:1 oil mixture. What is wrong?

Poulan 2150 won't start.Switch is on,Engine appears not to be flooded (try to start several times over a 12 hour period) Fuel tank full,Spark plug may not be firing (replaced CJ7Y spark with CJ8Y).How do I check to see if the fuel is reaching carb.? I also cleaned air filter.

I cann't get the automatic chain oiler to work on my Poulan "wild thing" with an 18 inch bar. Have cleaned the port in the bar and tried to blow out the oil port under the bar but it still will not oil. The saw has only 10 hrs of use.

I have a Poulan 2800 chainsaw that won't start. It appears that it is not getting spark, and the coil doesn't look good. I'm being told that the part is obsolete. Where can I get a part? How can I test to see if the coil is bad?

I am suspecting that the head gasket has blown or at least a part of it has failed. Also check the ellen screws that hold the cylinder head to the crankcase as they may be loose. Since it runs at high speed, but not at low speed, this sounds like it is pulling air in through a bad head gasket at low engine speed and therefore stalling out. At high engine speed, enough vacumn is created to pull fuel from the carb. Let me know if this may have been the problem.

Lately I'v been cutting fire wood with my fathers Chain saw.I'v been fixing it up and I ran in to a problem when I was cutting a tree up. The gasket in the lid of the gas tank got riped up real bad and it is a pain in the butt to find a replacement for it. Can you tell me a good place to buy a gasket in the state of Pa. and in Columbia County?

Does a chainsaw require oil besides the oil that is mixed with the gas. There is a oil plug on the lower side of the chainsaw, but I don't know what to put in the saw. I believe it is supposed to be the bar oil, but I'm not sure.

The saw is a Poulan 2300. I do not have a book anylonger on my chainsaw.

Please give me some information on this chainsaw

I've had lots of chainsaws (currently have 7 in my fleet) but no Poulan's... so this advice is generic.

There's a possibility that you've got a small
chunk of crud stuck in your low speed jet....have seen this quite a number of times over the years....

Try backing out the low speed mixture adjustment 1 turn and see what happens.... If things improve radically, you've probably found the culprit.

The general impression I have of Poulan is that
they must have a pretty high defect rate.... You see lots of 'remanufactured' ones being wholesaled at a discount.

>comments: I have a poulan woodshark 14".There is a gas leak.I am not sure if it has a crack in the tank or if there is a hose connected that is leaking.I know poulans are known for gas leaks before i take it all apart do you have any suggestions or has anyone else emailed about this problem.I had an oil leak a couple of years ago but i tightened up the 4 screws underneath and that solved the problem

Double check your fuel mix and make sure it's the manufacturer's recomended gas to oil mix. Some of my old saws still run on a 16/1 mix. I also tag my cans the minute I mix the fuel with the date and mix ratio.

How much compresion do you have???, If it's below one 100 PSI, it will give you that symptom. I don't suspect the carb or fuel since the engine runs at full throttle.
Hope this helps.

Remove the exhaust muffler the is a screen type element in there. This is the spark arrester it must be clean or it will give lots of trouble. If you would like a good small chain saw STIHL has a new model for the home owner. This is a great saw for the money. I'm a fleet manager for a National Park and I have approximately 30 saws, weedeaters, triimers, and blowers that we maintain. If the screen is clean then go purchase a carb o/h kit and a can of Berrysman B12 aerosol carb cleaner and install the kit. This should cure your problem.

I have gotten a small poulen chain saw the chain keeps getting loose on the bar like after 15 minutes of heavy use the the tigthen it and keep going but about every 15 minutes it is loose again
have notice sparks flying between chain and bar and when i tigthen it fixes the problem. When I cut a small tree it looks like the saw burns through it.

i have just a small poulan with a 12 inch bar, when runing at idle it is fine but when you put a load on it it stalls. it is very hard to start, has fresh fuel. where could i find a manual on it, don't know the model#. it's just for home use. could it be the diaphrame and if so are they expensive, really like the saw. thanks
