I am getting ready to buy a new John Deere JA 62 walk behind mower and I am wondering about where to buy it there is a Home Depot a reasonable distance from me that stocks them. I am wondering if there is any difference in the JA 62 machines sold by Home Depot and the dealers. Also how is the warranty service when you don't buy it from a regular dealer?

I'd think that as long as it was under warranty, a Deere dealer would have to fix it. When the warranty runs out, however, it's dealer's discretion(at least it is here). We've found that in the long run, it generally pays to buy it from the dealer even if it means a higher price. Many dealers here won't service a piece of equipment after the warranty period if you didn't buy it from them. Our Lawn-Boy dealer generally won't repair out-of-warranty equipment of any make that wasn't originally purchased from him. Some people may call such a dealer a jerk and a snob, but I can't blame him too much for feeling that way. He's been burned more than once servicing just such equipment, so he doesn't do it any more. Some dealers will give preferential treatment to those who buy equipment from them, too.

Loyalty works both ways(or at least it does here). I hope it works out for you.

I really feel that it is problably better to buy it from a dealer like you said. It would just be the best way to do it. Thanks for the advice.
