Hi, I have a Ryobi trimmer and I can't keep the motor running after it starts. I do the usual start up procedures and it trys to run but then quits. This a relatively new tool and hasn't really gave any problems. One friend thought it might be the carb. If anyone has any thoughts on this I would really appreciate it. Maybe a "Mr. fix it" web site would help.
Thanks

We are having similar problem, only it won't start at all. It sounds like it wants to. Changed the spark plug, but does the 'r' in the spark plug # make that much difference? We got one with same number, but without the 'r', as they didn't have that particular one. Thanks.

If you dont see mud dauber evidence from the outside, see if the muffler will come apart and look for carbon buildup in the muffler baffles or the exhaust port. Bill

I had a makita trimmer that did the same thing.I spent hours looking for the cause. It was a dirt-dobber had stoped up the exhaust.
Hope this helps.

I have a 31cc 15 inch Ryobi trimmer
It starts fine using choke. After warm up I cut choke off and the trimmer dies, like I have turned it off. Is this problem something I can fix or do I need to take it to a shop? Thanks, gary
