I receive a consumer alert type publication and it recently listed some recalls that may interest you. There have been some recent posts about some of these types and brands of tools.
Portble air compressors - Ingersoll-Rand-458,000 recalled that sold between 1983 & 1991. Internal corrosion of tank causes rupture. Compressors had single phase electric motors up to 3 hp and gas engines up to 8 hp, tank sizes up to 30 gals. Brand names are: Ajax, Charge Air Pro, Energair, Guardian Power, MacTool, Power Force, Rallye, Rand 4000, and Steel Driver Hardware sold some along with other suppliers. Murray Inc. - riding mowers- 95,700 recalled due to leaking gas tanks. Brands were Murray, Murray Select, Craftsman and Wizzard. The mowers have 30 inch cutting decks and were sold from Jan. 1995 to Jan. 2002.
Handheld saws: Roto Zip Corp recalled 1.9 million saws - handles can separate from the saw and injure operator. Brands include Revolution, Rebel, Solaris model Spiral. Saws sold from Dec 1999 to Jan. 2002.
If you own any of these tools, you need to check with your dealer or place of purchase. I apologize if I have incorrected related any of this info.

I had one of the IR compressors. It was a 3/4 hp 7.5 gal tank oilless. They gave me 2 options. They would give me 100.00 for it or they would allow me 200.00 credit toward the purchase of their current line comparable compressor. I took the latter deal but it took about 3 weeks to get the replacement shipped and I got impatient. I wanted a bigger unit anyway, so I bought a 60 gal Eagle. When the new compressor arrived I sold it to a buddy.
