I bought an electric pressure washer at a sale(100.00), auctioneer said it worked great, he was a lieing bugger, almost no pressure. It's a cat pump with a baldor electric motor. Does anyone have any experience with these things? I did pull the cylinders off and turned the motor on, the pistons are working. Don't know how old it is, maybe 10-15 years old, Is it rebuildable, is it worth rebuilding, are parts available for it, anything special I need to know? What's your opinion on auctioneers? Seems there's alot out there that will tell you anything to get the price up. At an estate sale once, the guy was auctioning a car, said the air conditioner blew cold, I asked him how it could blow cold with the belt missing and the compressor locked up. Thanks, Don W

If the unloader valve is toast it'll never be able to build pressure. Check the valve.

The one I have (used a lot) is rebuildable and has a lot of hours but runs like new. Only trouble I have had with pump in 18 yrs is in top end, pretty simple.Don't warp the head it's chrome plated soft metal, won't stand too much torque. If you have an honest to goodness full service dealer in your area check with them. Find the volume/pressure rating of pump and be certain you have the recommended/appropriate pressure tip/nozzle and that it doesn't have an unloader valve in line that's bad. Also check the drive belt is not slipping, fooled me before. What model cat pump?
