My overhead door operator has quit. Dad bought it in the early 1960's. I guess I got pretty good life out of it. Time to buy a replacement. What do you guys think? What is a decent quality unit? Door is 10x10. Think I can get another one that will last 40 years?

I would say repairing the unit is out of the question. Seems now days things are just throw aways. I think Craftsman or genie both make a decent unit for about 150 bucks. I got one of each, but the craftsman is very noisy indeed.

Hi Bill,
Without knowing make, model, etc, I would suggest that you take a hard look at repairing it, unless so much is worn that repair is not feasible. I bought a manual rollup door just so I wouldn't be faced with repair problems. Good luck.
