: : : : : A friend just purchased an IH model 2424 tractor. It's : : not operable in it's current condition, but he's : : hopeful that if he could find a replacement engine block : : that it could be restored. Any ideas where to even start : : looking for such a thing? : : Also, does anyone know what year this tractor was made? : : Thanks! : : : : Tim : : Tim: With a fast look, a 2424 is the industrial version of a 424 farm tractor which first appeared in 1964 and produced till 1967. The engine in a gasser was a 145 cid and a diesel was a 154. See if you have an established CaseIH dealer near you with a older Friendly parts guy. He will tell you availability of new parts or location of good salvage yards. If that fails, get onto the big yards like Central Tractor. If anybody else is reading this, please help this gent with some names, please. Tim I have a 2424 also and I have found that Dresser took some of the international parts line, You might try a Dresser dealer. The Dresser dealer in Tempe AZ. is Road Machinery. I cant remember the engine mfg. but I will try to find out for you.. I also think this tractor was built possibly till 1976 but I may be wrong. Whats wrong with the block ? maybe it can be restored ! And does anyone know where to find the loader that will fit this tractor? Thank's Mike
