Does any one know if there are any programs or sites or is there any one that is able to provide information as to trailer design. materials and design so trailer is strong enough and yet not over kill. Can any one provide engineering information or formulas that may help.

You might try www.bigtextrailers.com Their website has several different pictures and options of trailers. It also lists and can print what materials they use and even some measurements.

www.trailerplans.com

This is the engineering company that Northern Tools buys their trailer plans from. I've got 2 sets for different styles, and they seem to be done quite well. Not too expensive either. Also, Northern tool has books for trailer building as well.
