Just picked up a nice, used, Stihl straight shaft weedwacker at an auction - so no manual.
Does anyone know what the gas:oil mixture should be.
Does anyone know if there is any lubrication of the shaft required or is it lifetime lubricated?
Thanks.
Warren

Warren,
It appears that you can secure a manual on the trimmer through Stihl's website at www.stihl.com under library/literature. I downloaded parts listings for my Echo off the web. It's really great that the companies are making their information accessible! Good Luck! John

older stihls - FS-60 & FS 80 took 25:1 (one pint oil to l 1/2 gallons of gas), then FS-81 when to 40:1, then finally 50:1 in latest models

Mix of 40:1 is OK, had a stihl for 12 years and greased it once, didnt need it then. Grease can be obtained from stihl or about any mower shop.

Stihls of the past ran 40:1, newer ones run 50:1. I'd use 40:1 on all of them.

25:1 is a pretty safe mixture for most any
2 stroke, using good 2 stroke oil.

The shaft requires grease at the head. STIHL sells this in a tube.

George,
Thanks for the comments. I assume that the head you refer to is the trimming end and not the power end. How is the head greased? There is no visible zerk and doesn't seem to want to be opened very easily.

Warren:

If I remember correctly, the trimmer end has a hex nut which when removed, will allow for grease to be squirted-in from the plastic tube.
