042...rebuilt carb, a walbro ws-3, new filter and fuel line. Checked intake tube, and fuel pump hose. Won't adjust to a idle, has to be choked to start even warm, runs at a high speed and die's when it does fire. It's apparent it's not getting fuel right. What's wrong????? ??

The gasket between the case halves is blown out the bottom. This will require complete teardown of the saw to repair. That is the worst case. Check all rubber hoses and intake boot for cracks first. Look under saw between fuel tank housing and crankcase. You will see a gasket hanging out. Let me know if you want to try repair yourself.

Thanks, I'll have to tear it apart, and see what I can find. The saw sat for a few years, and was bought and used a few times, started leaking fuel from the pump cover. Ran fine untill then, after the re-build, it wouldn't run for more than a few second's, then die [out of gas ]. When it does run it's got a mind of it's own, high rpm's, no idle, won't adjust, on the low circut, or high circut.

You may have an air leak at the carb or reed block, that will cause a too lean condition. I have seen a few cracked reed blocks do this , though never on a Stihl. good luck
