For small parts with nooks and crannies, soaking in Coca Cola overnight will do it. Also, if you put a tooth in a cup of coke, the next morning the tooth will be gone. Just so you soft drink fanciers have something pleasant to think about. Booze seems to be much less harmful to one's system.

If the rust is not real bad I like to use a Scotch-Brite pad in my right angle die grinder. They are available at most auto supply houses. An added benifit is that they doe not mar the metal. They are also good for removing paint. A lot of body shops use them

I read in the last issue of Ontario Farmer Publication that you can use plain old vinigar from the grocery store to remove rust.it takes awhile but it works.

Sometimes I use a needle scaler to remove rust from like a trans case, engine block exterior. If it is small enough to fit in my blast cabinet, I might use Virgin Aluminum Oxide (for cast iron parts),Glass Bead (for metal & some plastic),Poly Abrasive (for sheet metal& fiberglass), Silicone Carbide (for heavy rust & brazing, welding prep)or Walnut Shells (for internal engine parts). I found Eastwood to be about my best place for abrasives, nozzels and blasting parts. I have several small spot blasters with different abrasives in each one. The best thing is to be NOT IN ANY HURRY!!!! Eastwood phone 1-800-345-1178 or www.eastwoodcompany.com Thank you Joseph

I don't know what kind of wirewheel u are using, but I use a 4" angle grinder with a 3" cup wirewheel like the welders use. Get one that is good quality for around $10 BUT USE SAFTY GLASSES!!!!! ! These wires do fly from the wheel especialy when u get close to sharp edges cause of the high RPM's . BE CAREFULL

For large items I sandblast. If it will fit in a 5gal bucket, you could use a phosforic acid solution. Do a search for rust removal by electrolysis. I just started experimenting with it. Regards, Mike.
