I have a couple of rivet anvils and punches that I use in the General Aviation field..For replacing brake linings of course. they have several types, one You use with a hammer and one that is screw in type for a better bucktail on the rivet.

Yes, I know exactly what that tool is, when I was growing up on the farm my grandfather used a floor mounted one to reline the brakes on cars, tractors, trucks and any thing else on the farm that use brake pad material. This tool was used to rivet the pad material to the brake shoes this is before there was bond adhesives like we have today. I use a small hand riveter at work to rivet pad material to our brake shoe on our crains and presses. The one that I have is about 40 years old and it still works like new. Thank you Joseph

An old time mechanic I used to live across the road from had one of those foot operated riveters along with a lot of other vintage 30s & 40s garage equipment. I wish I had gotten it and the Sioux valve grinder before he passed away. The family sold all his stuff in a lot for almost nothing. That riveter sure would come in handy now for relining the brake shoes on my WD and WD-45 Allis-Chalmers tractors.
