Has anyone replaced o-rings and seals on a floor jack hydraulic cylinder? Anything special about doing this job? Thanks in advance.

What part of Idaho are you from? I am originally from Bonner/Boundary county area (Panhandle). Now living in N FL.

I have a related question maybe some of you can comment on. I won't have any problem with stopping a leak at the pump, but mine doesn't leak externally. If you pump the handle, the saddle raises fine and then immediately goes back down. In talking to the local repair shop about costs, the service manager mentioned that for a flat fee they hone and reseal the pump and "reseat" the check valves. This is the grey area for me. It appears that this might be my problem of a check valve not holding. If I understand the jack properly, there are two checks in the system along with the pump. Can anybody elaborate on this "seating" of the valves.

Depends. What brand of jack is it? Many of teh cheaper Chinese hydraulic jacks are welded shut. You also cannot get parts for them. Older, American made jacks (Lincoln, Walker, Hein-Werner. Ausco, etc.) are pretty straight forward. You can get a parts list & exploded diagram faxed to you for Lincoln, Walker, H-W, & associated jacks, e-mail me if you want their number.

Better "name brand" imported jacks aren't too hard to get partd for, such as Jet, Norco, Lincoln Guardian. Sears tends to sell assembleys rather than parts for theirs.

If you need the names of some suppliers for American-jacks, e-mail me.

I have 2 old walker 4 ton jacks. I put kits in both. They came with the jacks at an auction.
I still have a problem with the jacks by passing
under a load. They bypass at 200 lbs. There was no assembly info or breakdown. I am in need of info. to see if I did something wrong or if
I can adjust something. Thanks

I doubt this thread is still alive after all this time, but if someone could send me a source for Walker jack parts I'd appreciate it.
