This past year my 24'x100' pole barn was destroyed in a windstrom. I am trying to figure out the replacement cost for income tax purposes.
The barn had 6" poles on 48" centers, with 2x6 stringers on 24" centers.
The barn was completely lined with 3/8" exterior plywood and covered with barn tin.

contacting a local contractor, as suggested below, is the best way, but another is to contact a major building supplier such as Astro Buildings, Morton Buildings, Lester's Buildings, etc. they have the info on hand in a book so, they should be able to give you a quote within a few days. be aware that they probably don't have the exact building that you had (posts 4' on center, etc) as they have set diminsions that they build by, because their buildings are engineered a certain way to stay within codes. but they also have a large assortment of sizes available. just get one as close as possible in size to the one you lost, and settle with your insurance company/IRS on a per square foot basis.
if you go the local contractor route, please don't expect him to do it for nothing. he will spend a minimum of 4 to 6 hours figuring an estimate for you, and that's 4-6 hours that he could be out swinging a beatin' iron making a living. if you offer to pay him, he'll no doubt do it, and he'll give you a fair number, in a timely fashion, that you can take to the insurance company/IRS. my 2 cents.

russel, if you have a friend who is a building contractor ask him to give you a estimate to rebuild back to the same type of construction that you had and ask him to place a bid on the job, but be honset with him and tell him that you are only wanting something on paper to turn in for tax porpouse and you should not have any problem proving to the irs the valve.

or the average material and labor for the building could be in the area of 10-15 dollers a sq. ft.
