Kim: Looking in a (1994) Laird Plastics Catalog. It lists a number of UHMW products. One of them is TIVAR 88: "TIVAR 88 is a uniquely formulated UHMW polymer developed to solve abrasion, corrosion, and material flow problems in bulk material handling applications. Severe sliding applications including those exposed to sunlight are addressed when using TIVAR 88". TIVAR UHMW-PE & TIVAR-1000 don't mention UV resistance. 'TIVAR Dryslide Reduced Friction' also says it is "UV stabilized". Some of the other UHMW products don't specifically mention UV exposure, but all of them talk about truck bed liners, hoppers, bins, silos, dragline buckets, chutes, etc. Some pictures show dumptruck beds lined with UHMW material. Some are certainly in high UV exposure applications. In the Technical Data-Solution Selector, under Environmental Resistance, Approved Materials, 'UHMW (UV)' is listed as being acceptable. I take this to mean that you need to specify a UV resistant UHMW. I have a number of plastics handbooks & can research this further or provide information on a specific material if you need it.
