This depends upon the valve itself. Some are of the new style only and others are dual purpose with the new connection on the outside and the old style left hand thread inside so that you can connect either or to the same valve. Best bet is to check it before you buy it.

I'm not sure if they are still available, but for a while you could find adapters at places like Harbor Freight. I haven't seen them lately. Also remember that using an adapter negates the new safety device built in to the new design.

Something else is you can't air bleed the lines as the new valves have a safety check that needs to be depressed before vapor will flow. When you screw in the hose connector that depresses the check valve letting vapor flow. I had to replace a leaking hose fitting and the new style fitting has a O ring but either style connector will work.
