GMC 302 six cylinder rebuild.

Rebuilding this six and need to find the right pistons. It is a 4.0" bore with a .990 pin dia. with a 2.34 compression height. Help I don't want to put big bucks into this thing. thanks

If you have a 4" bore, I would take the piston to the parts store and see if a piston from a 350, 327 or 302 Chevy v8 would work. I remember that they are all 4" bore. That is the thing I like about GM stuff, parts interchangability. Since it's a GM product, surely some manufacturer has a piston that will fit. Good Luck!

I believe a 302 is a ford engine! a gmc would be a 305 or a 307 wouldnt it?

I know what I have. It is a GMC truck from 1958. It is a inline six cylinder 302.

You're right, a gmc 302 is inline 6. Other's are wrong. gotta love them straight six engines, I boughta '95 F150 w/a 300 I-6 and love the engine, but don't like the rest of the truck much.

The only 302 ,I know about, that chevy made was a v-8

This is an inline 6 cyl. engine used exclusively in GMC trucks in the 1950's. Some where actually used in gas fuel dragsters in that era. They had a real strong block.
