I had one, that was like a 6 full drawer chest. I had it for about 3 years. Not to bad, but nothing great. One day when on back of my truck, I went across some bumps, and I guess the up-down motion of my truck was too much for it, and the sides buckled on the box(it was way over full, and took 2 people to move) I took it back to the home depot, and the manager said they don't normally take back boxes, but he had never seen one do that, so he said he would give me a credit. I went and bought another one, supposedly heavier duty and twice as expensive. 3 days after being on my truck it started to buckle, and now the lid won't close or lock. Anybody else had problems with these boxes? I put it on my truck occasionally, but not that often. I needa box that is gonna be strong, but don't know if I can afford a snap-on, mac etc. Kobalt any good?

i tried that, but then I gotta replace the brakes. They really weren't that hard of bumps, I think I just had the tool box overloaded

I can only say that I purchased a Craftsman roller "project" chest that has roller slides that's the only way to purchase a tool chest.

if you want a regular toolbox you might look at a matco box, much heavier than mack or snapon and about 1/2 the price. the matco people a lot of energy into destroying their and the competitors boxs to make sure their's are the strongest.

Montezuma welding and Manufacturing makes a really strong truck box with a lid that holds all the tools in place. I'll try to dig up the nunber and post it. Don't buy a Mack or Snap on box they don't hold up any better when bounced around in the back of a truck. Had them both, and the drawer slides broke out of both, and no, their lifetime warranty wouldn't cover either one. IMHO neither Mac or Snap on's tools are worth the price, I buy my tools to use, not impress anybody,They don,t hold up any better than any other major brand (SK Craftsman etc) when used hard, sometimes not as well!

Montezuma Welding & Mfg calls their box CPL for compact position lock. I have one and like it. The number is 800 759 5157. I recently called and they no longer sell direct, but will tell you who to contact. One of the contacts which I did not write down has a web site.

Yeah, I hear ya 'bout buying snap-on etc. tools. I have mostly S/K and craftsman, and some Mac, but that was mostly because I needed it right then. Let me know if ya find that number, if not, I might look at one of those I think it's a "job box" or knack or something like that.

i have had snap on road box and matco side box in my service truck for 13 years and the only ill effect is the sliders are getting worn, but you would expect that if they never moved from one place. you might want to put box is mounted securly against truck and tied down. don't overload boxes.

I have found craftsman to be the best priced and to hold up the best on my service truck.
