i have a question about making a trailer. my buddy had an old frame to one of those long tow behind campers, think its around 30' but not sure. but anyway my question is do you think if i put the boards on it, the frame would be strong enough to be able to haul a tractor on it? thanks

Many a tragic story begins with, "my buddy had a... so I changed it over to a..." Not all stories though. But seriously, the thing you need to remember is that the trailer in question was engineered for an intended pupose and load. I've seen too many trailers misused, out of the realm of their intended design, that have had tragic endings, scary in fact. One I saw recently, was a stripped down RV trailer that had boards place over the minimal amount of cross braces. He might be able to get away with really light loads, but who knows. I wouldn't attempt it.

Play it safe and either build one from good engineered plans, or buy one that is already made for your specific needs. You could have some salvagable reuseable parts laying there however. Do you know the rating of the axles? How are the tires and what are their ratings for loads? You could use the wiring and lighting for your new frame. Your frame design and axle placement and axle load rating,is what will make your trailer the most critical for the types of loads you will be hauling.

alright thanks guys it was just a thought, i really don't have a big use for it i just thought it would be able to haul a tractor around when i needed but i don't want to do it the wrong way. i'll just keep looking for good deals on a one made for that stuff, but if anyone wants a trailer like that for light duty hauling let me know and i could probably get it for ya. thanks again for not letting me make a mistake
