wisconsin VH4D engine timing

I have a wisconsin VH4D on a 1997 case trencher. After hurricane Katrina it wouldn't start. It is not creating a spark. I have replaced the cap, button, coil, points and condenser. What is the right gap on the points? What else could cause this problem.

Check wiring back to kill or ignition switch and also some have oil and/or heat sensor switches that can go bad. Disconnect those and then try it again. I guess that late a model you have battery dist. ignition or magneto? If magneto post back with what type for more trouble shooting. Good luck.

The point gap on an older Wisconsin was .018 to .022 with a distributor; the newer ones should be close if not the same. I would take the points out and with a piece of very fine sandpaper shine them up. If the points aren't shiny it will not run, or it will not run very well. One old boy told me to never use anything courser than a match book cover on your points. Hope this helps you.
