I have a 1954 B&S 6 engine. It is a vertical engine. My question is, how do you remove the camshaft? Does B&S still make parts for this engine?
Thank you

B&S still makes some parts for these eninges, like rings, gasket sets, points&condenser, etc. If this is cast iron, you take off the magneto plate & above
the camshaft there is a small plug.Punch this plug
out&the camshaft pin will come out the side.

i have an older B&S and i dont know how to tell what horse power it is m, There is no marking on the out side of it. On the crank case it has a screw on oil cap of case iron, and on the botton there is spout with a lid on it , and it is on a spring, The Motor is faily large , and it takes a lot to pull start it , any way i would like to find out so i can some time buy new points for it if it needs them ,, thank you very much
