Hi Folks..... ....

Yesterday I found a "LeRoi Company" engine in a field with a fellow that I stop in on once or twice a year. I said that he had it "out back" and had finally moved it out near the road. He called it a donkey engine. It is a self contained unit with the radiator and gas tank all in a nice skid mounted package. It is an in-line four cylinder engine. It has a clutch and a multi-V pulley coming off the business end. It is all there and the sheet metal and such is in pretty good shape.

Zenith Carb
Fairbanks Morse type FMJ magneto; all four plugs and wires are there.
The muffler has been removed and rain has gotten into the exhaust manifold. The nameplate says:

LeRoi Company
Milwaukee WIS
XRP206
Stroke 3 1/2
Bore 2 3/8

I want you guys to have this thing if you are interested. It is in good shape as I said but it must be stuck. If any one wants it please let me know and tell me what you"d give for it. I"ll be going back by this fellow soon and I"m glad to act as a middle man for a small fee.

Bruce.

A donkey engine was a steam engine used as a stationary unit to winch logs in the late 1800's. The reason they called them a "donkey engine" is because they were small and low horsepower, but could pull a lot of weight. I always liked the saying better than "power unit", but anyway, where are you located?

Hi there,

I am in Saint Ignace Michigan and the engine is about 50 miles west of me. It seems from the response rate to my posting that people aren"t clammoring for these LeRoi engines. Anyway, it seems like a nice little unit. You interested? I went by it twice yesterday....still there.
