I might be buying a briggs vanguard 16hp vertical shaft engine. It is recoil start. My question is, is their a conversion kit to turn it into an electric start? If not what are all the parts with part numbers I need to do this. A place on-line where I can get these parts would be great to.

Thanks!

If you are buying the recoil start engine new, it will be cheaper to buy an electric start model from the get-go.

I can get this one for around 150. Its almost brand new. Even if it cost me another 150 to convert it thats still an awesome deal! Thats only 300 total and they sell new for like 800. So im saving half a grand! :-D

A new starter is about $150. 00, you will need a new flywheel with the starter ring and magenets on the inside for the alternator and you will need an alternator stator. I do not know what the flywheel costs. The stator is about $50.00 depending on current output you would choose. If you could find a blowed-up electric start version of this engine the convertion would be cheaper.
