Rod Bearing Lubrication for Early IHC M?

Does anyone know how the rod bearing is lubricated in an early International M 1 1/2 HP(1918 kerosene ignitor model). There is a lubrication hole in the crankshaft in the bearing surface area. I ran a wire into it and it appears to go down the crank arm toward the main bearing on the governor side of the engine. There is no grease cup on either end of the crankshaft, nor no provision for one. I have a later model M (1930) with a grease cup on the end of the crank on the cam side for this bearing, but none exists on the 1918 model. there does appear to be some grease in the hole when I ran the wire in but it does not fill up when I turn any of the three grease cups.
