wisconsin jug questions

I know that this may seem like a silly question but I'm new to wisconsins but I have a VH4D engine in a skid steer which has a 3 1/4 bore and 3 1/4 stroke. The jugs are shot on my engine. I have found 2 wisconsin engine the 1 is a VF4D the bore and stoke are the same as the VH4D 3 1/4 X 31/4 are these parts able to be used on my VH4D. Also is the crank ,cam and so forth useable in my engine if so what are the differant between the 2 engines. there was also another motor there taht had no shrowding on this motor but the bore measured 3 1/4 is there any other stokes that go with bore.

Thank you all in advance for your help on this and sorry about the silly questions but I don't want to by something that I can't use.

The VH4D was very similar, but the major difference was the crankshaft - the VH was an even-firing engine, while the VE/VF were uneven. The VH was rated up to 3000 RPM and developed more power. Also differences in intake/exhaust. They were both flatheads. I would say that most parts are not interchangeable, even though they are identical in bore and stroke, and physical size.

I looked up both the VH4D and VF4D in my Wisc. Parts book. Parts number are:
----- ----- -VH4D----- ----- -VF4D
Jugs----- -AA98S7----- -----AA86AS30
Crank----- CA71A----- ----- CA55
CAM----- --EA113----- ----- EA102
According to this the parts are not interchangeable. The VH4D has more horsepower than the VF4D. Hope this helps

You will get a lot of help on this one. I think the jugs will work. The crank on the VF4D has poured rods. On the VH4D in the Bobcat the connecting rods have inserts, the gears in the front of the engine are different than an engine not in a Bobcat. A VH4D in a stump grinder has different specs. Also. Different applications have different specs. The old VF4s ran at a lower RPM, I feel they are an obsolete engine. There are parts that will interchange but maybe with changing other parts.

I haven't fooled with Wisc. for a long time, but if I remember right - the VF4D is a flathead, whereas the VH4 is overhead valve; so, they won't interchange. They are pretty much model-specific, I think. Hope this helps.
