Wisconsin VF-4

I thought I had done a desent job of cleaning it all up. Valves and head gaskets in good shape and re-lapped them.
But still getting poor compression on all four cylinders.

Question,..how fine a finnish do these cylinders require??

Question,...How much end gap is reasonable before they loose their sealing ability.

I'll be thaking the thing appart again to see if I can sort this problem out. Just seems strange that all four are equally poor after being cleaned up.

Thanks for the reply, but no the rings aren't stuck.

I've taken it apart again and see that the end gaps are 1/8th inch or so. Thats way too much for it to work.

I would believe that it should be around .015 inch or maybe a litttle larger since the cylinders would run hotter than a car engine.

So I will have to keep a look out for piston rings.

Local suppliers want $150CAN for the set.

Not too economical to pay more for rings than the whole welder and not too sure how it all will work.
