I am thinking about buying a 5 hp 2 stage ingersoll-rand compressor. My problem is that there are 2 differant models for the same price and I don"t know what the best one is. The model numbers are #2340 which is the t-30 model, a v shape, and the other one is ts4L5 which is both pistons side by side. This is for home use. Sears has one and northern freight has one. Both are 999.00. Could someone help me? Thanks alot.

Waldoe, If I had a choice ,I would go on hunt of a Quincy as they are the top of the line . A worn out quincy is a better buy than an IR. I have an old champion and a very old curtis that were making air when I bought a T-30 IR, they are both still making air while the IR is long gone and has been replaced by a 5hp quincy and I have another 5 hp quincy to add to bank soon. IR t-30 uses an overhung crank and splash oil, quincy uses a main brg on each end and pressure fed oil that also holds the unloader open until there is oil pressure.

just remember IR is no longer in the U.S. they sold out to Africa and parts are as scarse as hens teeth
