A few years ago at a small engine show, I saw a regular looking lawn mower with a Wisc. vertical shaft engine on it. Though I've kept my eyes open for information on this engine, I can't find anything on it. I wish I'd looked at it more closely and asked the owner questions. Does anyone know anyhing about this engine. Model #, what year(s) made, why so rare, etc. Was it a lemon? Thank You

What you probably seen was a Wisconsin-Robin engine. Snapper used this 2 cycle engine for 2-3 years.

I know there were vertical-shaft versions of the ACN, BKN, and AENL (HACN, HBKN, and HAENL). I have manuals for them, but have not ever seen one. As to why they are are rare, how many expensive, heavy, cast-iron single-cylinder motors of any brand do you see floating around?
