engine identification

I have an old Briggs & Stratton 1 cyl horizontal shaft engine. There is no ovious number on it, it does have a plate riveted to the cowling that says "inspect oil level frequently . . ." the recommended oil is "Gargoyle Mobileoil "A" summer . . ."
The cooling fins are cast in to the cylinder, but are at about 45 degrees to the verticle plane of the cylinder. The valve rockers are exposed, there appears to be an oil sump and a gas tank casted together as the base. What appears to be a carbuerator is a tiny little gismo. It looks like there should be a tube going from the carb to the cylinder head. It has a magneto on one side of the crank, and a flywheel on the other. There is a casting bolted on to the side of the block, almost looks like a carrying handle, it has the number "55461" cast on it.

You need to go to asecc.com. You have a slant fin Briggs & Stratton. Form what I understand from this web site they are a relatively valuable engine. I collect later model B&S engines. The guys at asecc.com should be able to help you.
