I've just bought a Fairbanks Morse model z "dishpan" 2H.P. I was told it is called a dishpan because the flywheels are solid. I know very little about these engines. I have not seen it yet, "only pictures" or heard it run. The person I bought it from knows nothing about this engine either. They tell me that the tag says 600 RPM. My question is is this engine a hit and miss or a throttled engine?? also it has a battery box and coil mounted on the side for the ignition. thank you

It is in fact a hit and miss, however, it is throttle governed..it gives you the ability to speed up the rpms...but it does not fire every revolution... it fires...and turns about 2 times, and fires again.

Go to www.enginads.com and post your question on the SMOKSTAK forum. You'll get more info than you imagined.
