I picke up an old engine at the auction today and I haven't heard of it brfore. It's a Universal Motor Co. Model No. 132 of Oshkosh, Wisconson. It's a inline four cylinder flathead, has a Bosch horseshoe type magneto, crank start, has primer cups on top of the head, exposed heavy flywheel, no water pump, and a governor with a through shaft that driver the magneto. Aneyone know about this engine or company? Thanks for any info, PK.

I picked-up a Universal a number of years ago and sounds identical to your find. The serial # is J1018, and is a nice running engine. Is yours complete with radiator and fuel tank? Mine has a glass sight gauge for the oil flow, does yours? The company is listed in Wendel's BYB.

I'll have to look for the SN. I just got it out of the truck and had to go farming, it finally quit raining. It's not complete. No radiator or fuel tank. Do you have a picture you can e-mail? This one has float and stem that indicates oil level. PK
